Hydraulics in Action: Supporting the NJ Turnpike Authority's Capital Improvement Project

At Hydrauli-Flex, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation in hydraulic hose manufacturing. Our hoses are not just products; they are integral components that help facilitate monumental projects like the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s (NJTA) ambitious $24 billion capital improvement project (CIP).

This extensive initiative, which kicked off in 2020, aims to enhance safety and alleviate congestion on New Jersey’s major toll roads through lane, shoulder, and entrance expansions. With 14 major expansion projects planned, approximately 100 miles of roadway will be widened on both the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway.

One of the key players in this project is J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, currently undertaking significant improvements along the Garden State Parkway, particularly on Route 9 and Route 287. These roadways are not just thoroughfares; they are lifelines for businesses and communities, helping to foster economic growth in the region. The enhancements being made will not only ease traffic congestion but also ensure that emergency vehicles can navigate through during peak times, significantly improving overall public safety.

For these crucial tasks, the J.F. Creamer crew has deployed the ICE® 44B Vibratory Driver/Extractor, paired with the ICE® 55 Dampener. The ICE® 44B features a built-in vibration suppressor that significantly reduces the transmission of vibrations to the crane. When enhanced with the ICE® 55 Dampener—equipped with a system of elastomers that mimic the action of rubber-like polymers—this setup achieves superior dampening capabilities. The result? A more efficient, effective, and safer operation for driving 45-foot sheet piles into the ground.

At Hydrauli-Flex, we are proud to supply the hydraulic hoses that empower these advanced machines. Our hoses are designed to withstand the rigors of heavy-duty construction while ensuring optimal performance in demanding environments. We understand that when it comes to large-scale projects, reliability is key, and our hoses are built to deliver just that.

As the NJTA’s CIP progresses, we look forward to continuing our support for such critical infrastructure developments. Together with industry leaders like J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, we are committed to driving innovation and excellence in every project we undertake. Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative project and how our hydraulic solutions contribute to safer, more efficient roadways in New Jersey.

The International Construction Equipment ICE® 44B has proven its success previously on this CIP, as International Construction Equipment, Inc has provided this same hammer to another segment of this project that took place previously on Route 46, Passaic Bridge, and River Drive. Congratulations J. Fletcher and team on a job well done! The residents and visitors to the Garden State are thrilled with the progress made on this massive project that is sure to boost mobility for generations to come.
