Hydrauli-Flex Hoses Powering ICE® Equipment at Safe Harbor Marina Bay Expansion

Located on Dorchester Bay, just seven miles south of Boston, Safe Harbor Marina Bay in Quincy, MA offers an unparalleled experience for its members. With 686 slips granting access to some of northern New England’s most pristine waters, and a bustling boardwalk filled with upscale dining and entertainment options, the marina is a standout. Now, as the marina expands, they're adding another floating dock to accommodate growing demand, and Hydrauli-Flex hoses are right there powering the equipment that makes it happen.

Floating docks are a game-changer in tidal waters, as they rise and fall with the changing tides, providing a perfectly level platform for docking boats. The dock under construction is being built with concrete to withstand high tides and strong winds, and it is anchored to the shore with two pilings, also known as dolphins. However, before new piles could be driven into place, the old pipe piles had to be removed—and that’s where ICE® equipment comes into play.

ICE® Equipment at Safe Harbor Marina Bay

Atlantic Coast Tug & Marine, based in Derry, NH, was tasked with removing the old piles. Using their ICE® 22D Vibratory Driver/Extractor, purchased from International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®) in 2022, and equipped with the Model 99 Pipe Clamp, they efficiently extracted the old 16” diameter, 80' long piles. According to Adrian Whitamore from Atlantic Coast Tug & Marine, the performance of the Model 99 Pipe Clamp exceeded expectations. The clamp grabbed the piles securely, even though they were packed with clay, resulting in a 50% increase in production time.

The Model 99 Pipe Clamp’s unique straight jaws allow it to securely grip even 12-inch H-beams without needing to trim the tops of the beams, saving clients thousands in labor and material costs. This level of performance made it the perfect choice for the new dock’s piles—14” in diameter and 50’ to 60’ long—allowing for smooth and efficient installation.

For the Hydrauli-Flex hose systems that power this ICE® equipment, reliability and performance are paramount. Hydrauli-Flex hoses are the perfect complement to ICE® vibratory hammers due to their exceptional durability and performance under high-pressure conditions. These hoses ensure consistent hydraulic flow, which is crucial for the efficient operation of vibratory hammers in demanding environments. Their robust construction minimizes the risk of leaks and failures, enhancing the reliability and safety of the equipment while providing the durability, safety, and performance that ICE® requires for their high-quality vibratory hammers. This combination of features ensures successful and efficient project outcomes, just like the expansion happening at Safe Harbor Marina Bay.

Hydrauli-Flex hoses have been the trusted choice for powering ICE® equipment because of their flexibility, strength, and durability. These hoses are engineered to handle high pressure and extreme conditions, making them a perfect match for construction projects like this one, where power and precision are key.
