Powering Innovative Solutions at the World Equestrian Center

At The Hose Company, we take immense pride in manufacturing the Hydrauli-Flex hoses that power the ICE® equipment driving innovative construction projects across the globe. One such remarkable project is the recent expansion at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) in Ocala, Florida. This ambitious endeavor exemplifies sustainable development and cutting-edge engineering, with Hydrauli-Flex hoses playing a vital role in ensuring its success.

A Unique Solution for Sustainable Growth

The WEC, renowned as the largest equine facility in the United States, continues to set the standard in equestrian excellence. Spanning 378 acres, this premier venue attracts athletes and visitors from around the world, making Ocala a global equestrian hub. To accommodate its growing popularity, the WEC has undertaken several expansion projects, including the construction of a state-of-the-art parking lot built over a retention pond.

This innovative design not only addresses the demand for additional parking but also exemplifies sustainable infrastructure. By incorporating a retention pond beneath the parking lot, the WEC enhances stormwater management, reduces the risk of flooding, and improves water quality. This harmonious integration of functionality and environmental stewardship reflects a broader trend in sustainable development.

Engineering Excellence with Hydrauli-Flex and ICE® Equipment

In early 2024, R.W. Harris, Inc., a leader in design-build engineering and construction, was entrusted as the general contractor for this project. Building a parking lot over a retention pond presented a complex engineering challenge, requiring deep foundations to support the structure while maintaining the pond’s functionality.

Central to the project’s success was the use of 36”x70’ caissons, driven with an ICE® 44B Vibratory Hammer rented from International Construction Equipment, Inc. Known for its reliability and unmatched power, the ICE® 44B—powered by Hydrauli-Flex hoses—delivered the highest frequency and driving force in its class. This ensured precise placement of the caissons, creating a robust foundation capable of supporting the parking lot and facilitating efficient water flow into the retention pond.

Enhancing a Global Destination

Named one of TIME’s 2024 World’s Greatest Places, the WEC continues to redefine equestrian excellence. Beyond its equestrian facilities, the center’s commitment to hospitality, community, and innovation positions it as a comprehensive destination for visitors worldwide. The recent expansion underscores its dedication to delivering world-class experiences while addressing infrastructure demands with sustainable solutions.

This project highlights the importance of dependable equipment and high-performance components like Hydrauli-Flex hoses in overcoming engineering challenges. By powering the ICE® equipment, our hoses ensured that the R.W. Harris team could execute their vision with precision and efficiency.

Looking Ahead

As the WEC continues to grow, The Hose Company remains proud to contribute to projects that showcase ingenuity and sustainability. We extend our congratulations to R.W. Harris, Inc. for their exemplary work and to International Construction Equipment for providing the tools that make innovation possible.

With Hydrauli-Flex hoses at the core of groundbreaking projects like this, we reaffirm our commitment to excellence, supporting developments that shape a better future for communities and industries alike.
