Powering ICE® Equipment for the Punta de Mita Naval Station Project

The Punta de Mita Naval Station, an ambitious project with a 100 billion Mexican Pesos ($584 Million USD) investment, is set to transform the landscape of the Pacific Coast of Mexico. With the project’s groundbreaking in September 2023, the island—formerly a penitentiary—is being repurposed into a state-of-the-art facility for the Mexican Navy, while also serving as a unique eco-tourism attraction. As this massive undertaking moves forward at a fast pace, the team at Ingeniería Proyectos y Construcciones IPC SA de CV (IPC), based in Guadalajara, Mexico, is utilizing cutting-edge equipment and technology to meet tight deadlines, and Hydrauli-Flex hoses are playing a vital role in ensuring the success of the project.

As the construction of the ferry terminal and associated infrastructure gets underway, IPC is relying on the ICE® Dual Sheet Clamp System and ICE® 66 Vibratory Driver/Extractor to drive the NZ-38 sheet piles with precision. For this process, effective energy transfer from the hammer to the tip of the piles is crucial. The Hydrauli-Flex hoses, engineered specifically for high-pressure environments like pile driving, help power this equipment with consistent reliability and performance.

Hydrauli-Flex hoses are built to withstand the demanding conditions of heavy-duty machinery like ICE® equipment. These hoses ensure seamless operation, maximizing energy transfer and keeping projects like the Punta de Mita Naval Station on track. In this case, the ICE® 66 Vibratory Driver/Extractor is paired with the dual sheet clamp system to guide the 75-foot NZ-38 sheet piles with better control, enhancing the overall efficiency of the pile-driving process.

With the guidance and support from ICE®'s expert sales and service teams, IPC has successfully mastered the skill of using this advanced equipment to ensure the timely progress of the project. Additional ICE® equipment, including the ICE® I-36, ICE® I-46, and ICE® I-62 Diesel Impact Hammers, are also integral to driving the many 24-inch square piles required for the pier.

For The Hose Company, this project is a testament to the durability and precision of Hydrauli-Flex hoses in the toughest construction environments. Our hoses are trusted by industry leaders like IPC and ICE® to power critical machinery and ensure that high-profile projects like the Punta de Mita Naval Station continue to progress smoothly.

As the Punta de Mita Naval Station project advances, Hydrauli-Flex hoses will continue to play a key role in driving construction equipment, helping the project meet its 2024 milestones and paving the way for a new chapter in Mexico’s infrastructure development.

We are proud to be part of a project that not only supports the modernization of Mexico’s naval capabilities but also promotes eco-tourism and economic growth in the region. With Hydrauli-Flex hoses powering ICE® equipment, we look forward to continued success in the construction of the Punta de Mita Naval Station and beyond.
