Powering Resilience at the Port Monmouth Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project

At The Hose Company, we take pride in manufacturing Hydrauli-Flex hoses, which play a vital role in powering the equipment used in critical infrastructure projects. One such remarkable initiative is Phase II of the Port Monmouth Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project in Middletown Township, New Jersey.

This ambitious project, led by the experienced team at Anselmi & DeCicco Inc. (A&D), focuses on constructing 1,521 linear feet of floodwall, 1,040 linear feet of levee, and installing a staggering 119,300 linear feet of steel H-piles. The goal is to protect residential and commercial structures in low-lying areas from the devastating effects of coastal storms, which have historically caused massive economic and environmental damage.

Hurricane Sandy: A Wake-Up Call for Coastal Resilience

In 2012, Hurricane Sandy ravaged the New Jersey coast, leaving a trail of destruction with economic losses of up to $30 billion. This catastrophic event underscored the urgency for proactive measures to safeguard communities vulnerable to storm surges and flooding. The Port Monmouth project represents a crucial step forward in creating a resilient future for New Jersey's coastal areas.

Precision Construction with ICE® Equipment and Hydrauli-Flex Hoses

To tackle this complex project, A&D partnered with International Construction Equipment, Inc. (ICE®), leveraging their advanced machinery, including the ICE® 44B Vibratory Hammer and the ICE® 22RF Vibratory Driver/Extractor. These tools are indispensable for driving the 70' long permanent sheeting required to construct the seawall.

The ICE® 22RF, equipped with variable moment technology, provided the precision necessary to minimize vibrations and safeguard nearby structures. This innovative feature allows operators to adjust the eccentric moment, ensuring efficient pile installation without compromising structural integrity.

At the heart of this high-performing equipment are Hydrauli-Flex hoses. Designed to withstand extreme pressures and demanding conditions, our hoses ensure seamless power transfer, enabling ICE® machinery to operate at peak efficiency. This collaboration underscores the critical role of reliable hydraulic systems in delivering successful outcomes for infrastructure projects. Durability and Reliability: Hydrauli-Flex hoses are built to withstand high pressures and harsh conditions, ensuring consistent performance and reducing the risk of downtime due to hose failures.

Building a Safer Tomorrow

The residents of New Jersey can look forward to enhanced protection against future storms after this project. The floodwalls, levees, and seawalls being constructed will serve as a robust defense against coastal inundations, safeguarding lives, properties, and businesses.

We commend Anselmi & DeCicco Inc. for their dedication to quality construction and ICE® for their state-of-the-art equipment that makes such projects possible.
