Powering Critical Infrastructure Work on Sharon Station Road in Allentown, NJ
The construction on Sharon Station Road in Allentown, NJ, was part of a transformative project designed to enhance an essential access route to the NJ Turnpike, I-95, and northern Ocean County. Upon completion, the upgrade widened the road, replaced three bridges, and introduced a roundabout, along with landscaping improvements, making the stretch not only safer but more scenic. This $18 million project, awarded to Lucas Brothers Construction by Monmouth County, was intended to improve both the functionality and aesthetics of the area.
As the project progressed, significant foundation work was required, and for such an expansive undertaking, Lucas Brothers turned to the trusted expertise of ICE® equipment. With over 20 years of experience, the team at Lucas Brothers understood the importance of having the right machinery for the job. By teaming up with ICE®, they were able to use the ICE® I-19 Diesel Impact Hammer and ICE® 44B Vibratory Pile Driver/Extractor to drive the necessary piles for the project.
The ICE® I-19 Diesel Impact Hammer was utilized to drive steel pipe piles for the reconstructed bridges, while the ICE® 44B Vibratory Pile Driver/Extractor was employed for driving sheeting piles necessary for widening the road. Together, these two powerful pieces of equipment allowed the construction team to efficiently drive piles to grade, ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of the project.
At The Hose Company, we were proud to supply Hydrauli-Flex hoses for such high-profile projects. Our Hydrauli-Flex hoses were designed to withstand the high-pressure demands of pile driving equipment like the ICE® I-19 and ICE® 44B. These hoses are reinforced with multiple layers of braided or spiral steel wire, providing the strength and durability necessary for the extreme pressures encountered in foundation work and the environments around that work.
The outer cover of our Hydrauli-Flex hoses was made from abrasion-resistant synthetic rubber, offering superior protection against environmental factors such as UV rays, chemicals, and physical wear. This ensured that the hoses could perform in the harsh conditions typically found on large construction sites like Sharon Station Road.
