Hydrauli-Flex Hoses Power Critical Foundation Work for Clements Ferry Road Phase 2 Project

At The Hose Company, we are proud to be a key part of the infrastructure projects that shape our communities, particularly when it comes to enhancing safety and efficiency. In 2021, we had the opportunity to contribute to the Clements Ferry Road Phase 2 widening project in Charleston, South Carolina, a $44 million initiative aimed at improving roadway safety and capacity for over 14,000 daily commuters. This project is crucial for the region, as it will widen the highway from 2 to 4 lanes and include a multi-use path, along with a planted interior median to enhance traffic flow and safety.

However, before the road and bridge work could commence, a critical foundation step had to be completed: the installation of earthquake drains to mitigate damage in the event of seismic activity. These drains are an essential part of the project, as they prevent liquefaction and keep the foundation stable during earthquakes. US Wick, the contractor responsible for installing these drains, relied on cutting-edge technology and equipment, including the ICE® 8E Excavator Mounted Hammer with a 2-meter extension to place 20-foot piles that would stabilize the ground.

The pile driving process requires high-performance hoses capable of withstanding extreme pressures and providing consistent, reliable power to the ICE® equipment. That's where our Hydrauli-Flex hoses come in. Specifically designed to handle the rigorous demands of heavy-duty construction and foundation work, Hydrauli-Flex hoses deliver the superior performance and durability needed to power the ICE® 8E Excavator Mounted Hammer.

Hydrauli-Flex hoses are known for their exceptional strength and flexibility, making them the perfect choice for demanding pile driving applications. These hoses are built to resist abrasion and extreme pressure, ensuring the equipment runs smoothly and efficiently throughout the pile installation process. This reliability is critical for US Wick, as getting the piles in place in a timely manner is essential to stay on track for the project's 2024 completion date.

At The Hose Company, we take pride in playing a role in projects like these, knowing that our products are helping to build safer, more efficient roads for the future. We're excited to continue supporting construction projects across the nation with our durable and high-performance Hydrauli-Flex hoses, one job at a time.
