Revitalizing Panama City: A New Chapter for Robinson Bayou and Suzuki Motor Corporation

At Hydrauli-Flex, we understand the pivotal role that hydraulic hoses play in the construction and marine industries. As a manufacturer dedicated to excellence, we’re excited to share the news about a remarkable development in Panama City, Florida—a project that not only restores but revitalizes the local economy and strengthens the boating industry.

A Resilient Community Rebuilds

In 2018, Hurricane Michael wreaked havoc on Panama City, leaving significant damage in its wake. Among the affected areas was Robinson Bayou, where several buildings that once served corporate and academic research purposes were left in disrepair. However, thanks to the vision of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, this site is being transformed into a state-of-the-art Marine Technical Center, a project that signifies both renewal and innovation.

Suzuki's investment of 1.7 billion JPY (approximately $11.7 million) is a testament to its commitment to enhancing its outboard engine technology. This facility, the first of its kind outside Japan, spans 20 acres and features five refurbished buildings along with a large basin for testing and boat storage. With nearly half of the U.S. boat market situated in the eastern region, Suzuki's strategic move allows for closer collaboration with American boat builders and a better understanding of customer needs in real-world conditions.

The Role of Hydraulic Technology in Construction

The construction of a boat ramp for this facility was entrusted to the marine experts at RJ Gorman Marine, who recognized the efficiency provided by advanced hydraulic equipment. Utilizing the ICE® 28C Vibratory Hammer, they demonstrated remarkable speed in installing 60-foot PZ-27 sheets, showcasing the effectiveness of hydraulic technology in streamlining construction processes.

At Hydrauli-Flex, we take pride in manufacturing hydraulic hoses that meet the rigorous demands of construction equipment like the ICE® 28C. Our hoses are engineered for durability and performance, ensuring that projects run smoothly and safely. We understand that in high-stakes environments, the reliability of hydraulic systems is paramount, and we’re committed to supporting our partners in achieving their project goals.

Strengthening the Local Economy

The completion of the Marine Technical Center is not just a win for Suzuki and RJ Gorman Marine; it’s a significant boost for Panama City’s economy. By diversifying the local economy and creating jobs, this facility symbolizes resilience and growth. As Suzuki refines its outboard technology and collaborates with U.S.-based manufacturers, the ripple effects will be felt throughout the community.
