Forefront Deep Foundations, a seasoned contractor based in Newport Beach, worked diligently in 2023 to build temporary work trestles at two locations across the Kings River. These trestles enabled continued access for the construction of permanent railroad bridges as part of the California High-Speed Rail Project. The work was challenging, with environmental constraints, unknown soil conditions, and an aggressive schedule complicating matters.
But Forefront was up for the task. The company chose the ICE® 44B vibratory hammer for its efficiency in establishing the 172 pipe piles required for this project. This heavy-duty equipment relied on reliable hydraulic hoses to maintain consistent pressure and power throughout the installation process.

The choice to use the ICE® 44B vibratory hammer highlighted the need for equipment that operated efficiently and reliably under intense conditions. As Forefront President Jeff Bird put it, the company was "using an ICE® 44B vibratory hammer to efficiently establish 172 36” x .625” pipe piles to a depth of about 40 feet, followed by an impact hammer to further drive them to grade." It was these reliable and efficient solutions that drove the success of the project, and we were proud that our Hydrauli-Flex hoses played a part in it.
